We conduct spice tours off our 100% organic farm in Port Blair. We also sell our spices in gift packaging as the perfect souvenirs from these beautiful islands. For our spices and tours please contact Mrs Dinaz Noble: +91-9474208233 / [email protected]
Since 1986, which is when we bought it, our plantation has not seen any chemicals or pesticides. It hasn’t been easy. But just the knowledge that our produce is not going to give its consumer cancer has made it all worth it. Going organic was a decision we took as we wanted pesticide-free food, it was a simple choice to live a simple life. Over the years, our supply and demands have allowed us to reach our produce to like-minded people who, through tourism, have now been able to access us, and consequently reach good, naturally grown, pesticide-free food for a simply healthy and happy mind, body and soul.
Currently what we package and sell are our naturally grown, organic spices, sold mainly from home. They are packaged under the brand name of ‘Spices of Andamans’. They are grown on an island that has belonged to our family for over 30 years. They make for the best souvenirs, as they show not only that you care about the well-being of the person you take them back for, but also that you care about these islands and their fragile ecosystems by not taking back mined coral or shells instead. Remember, every empty shell is a potential home for someone. Best not to destroy it.
The spices we sell are Nutmeg (Jaiphal), Cloves (Lavang), Cinnamon (Dalchini), and Black Pepper (Gol Mirchi). Each spice has its own vital role to play in not only global cuisine, but also in Ayurvedic medicines. Some of their characteristics give you an insight into the significance of each spice for a wholesome development.
Nutmeg (Jaiphal) is used to relieve stomach cramps and control blood pressure. It increases blood circulation, mental alertness and reduces depression. Cloves (Lavang), rich in manganese, Omega 3 fatty acids, magnesium and vitaminC, they are known for prevention against cancer, and keeps your teeth healthy. Cinnamon (Dalchini) increases your metabolism, lowers your LDL (bad) cholesterol levels and is an important part of every diabetic’s diet. Black Pepper (Gol Mirchi), an irreplaceable digestive is not only an excellent fat-burner but a profound source of piperine.
In addition we also sell aroma sachets of clove sticks without extracting the oil so that you can keep these sachets in your cupboards and between your clothes to keep away moths, and roaches; and it keeps your linen smelling fresh and well-protected even after being stored away for long durations.
